Our First Time at the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue!
After literal years of wondering what the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue was all about, we finally decided to book this elusive dining reservation during our Spring 2023 visit to Central Florida and the Walt Disney World resort! Hoop-Dee-Doo shows take place in Pioneer Hall at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds, and we've long heard that this nostalgic staple of Disney resort dining was a must-do for any visitor to WDW property - but in thirty years of visiting, we'd simply never made it a priority. Needless to say, we were beyond excited to experience this charming dinner show for the first time!
We made our way to Pioneer Hall by taking resort transportation from Coronado Springs to Magic Kingdom and then hopping on the Ferry to Fort Wilderness. Ours was the second show of the day at 6:15PM, and we made sure to arrive early enough to check in with a cast member and get our table number. On that note, a friendly reminder - you will absolutely want to purchase your tickets in advance, especially if you think you might want preferred seating closer to the stage. If you have never done Hoop-De-Doo before, there is a little “ceremony” before the official show starts, as well! Spoiler alert - Katie was offered a chance to participate, and it will always be a special memory for us Disney Adults.
When we were seated, we immediately noticed our first course of salad and cornbread already on the table. Dinner is served family style and is “all you care to enjoy”. Not long after we took our seats, our server introduced themselves and took our drink orders. For awareness, beer, wine, and sangria are all included in the price of your meal, as well as water, juice, tea and sodas. Specialty cocktails can also be purchased for an additional charge. Shortly after we got our drinks, the performers arrived and really got the party started! It was impossible not to clap and sing-along with them as they welcomed guests from all over the world. All throughout the performance food would be brought to us and our server was ever attentive, bringing us more drinks and whatever else we needed. We tried our best to keep up with the food and the show in the vlog but in the end chose to highlight more of the delightful performances. The food at Hoop-Dee-Doo is satisfying and fits well with the theme for the dinner show. Our favorite was the strawberry shortcake dessert, so be sure to save some room for it!
Overall, we felt like the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue lived up to the hype, and we can see why it has been a staple of WDW entertainment for many years. We are so glad we finally made it a priority and can highly recommend it as a fun “date night” for couples or family outing. For more of our experience, be sure to check out the vlog below!
