Opening Weekend 2023 at Laurel's House of Horror!
In today’s vlog, our 2023 spooky season continues with our opening weekend visit to Laurel's House of Horror! This former movie theater now haunt has become one of our “home” haunts this year, and we were super excited to check out the haunt for the first time during its main season event. New for 2023 are a re-imagining of the iconic haunted house and maze - including new animatronics, a new flow and a whole swath of new scares - and an ALL-NEW Escape Room Experience that challenges you to ‘Escape the Movies’ as you work your way through a series of fan-favorite horror movies such as Insidious, the Nun and Scream! We kicked off our night taking on this new escape game before moving on to the main event. Special shoutout to our squad for the escape game experience, who were visiting staffers from PennHurst Asylum in Pennsylvania. Suffice it to say, we were super impressed with the set designs, clever puzzle solutions, and “sound-scaping” for this escape game.
Next, we took a fright-tastic walkthrough of the haunted house maze that sweeps guests through multiple retired movie theaters that have been given new life. In our experiences at multiple off-season events, the maze is always changing and updating, and this walkthrough did not disappoint. Our final stop was the gift shop to check out some new merch for the season, including pins! Despite less-than-favorable weather outside, this all-indoor, rain-or-shine haunt attraction in Laurel, MD continues to thrive each and every season...and we're excited to share a little taste of the 2023 season with all of you!
