Hersheypark in the Dark 2020!
On Sunday, October 25th, we made the trek out to Dauphin County to celebrate Halloween at Hersheypark with some night rides and some costumed cameos from our favorite candy mascots! Sadly, the day was more than a little hampered by rain, with several of our favorite high-thrill coasters (Skyrush, Great Bear, Candymonium, etc.) regularly being closed due to inclement weather. We did get a few good runs in on Laff Trakk - the full lights-out Halloween experience - Reeses Cupfusion, the Hersheypark Carrousel, and even one particularly memorable run on Lightning Racer while the drizzle was a little bit lighter. We also got a chance to sink our taste buds into the ‘Hops & Harvest’ seasonal menu at the Spring Creek Smokehouse℠ nearby Trailblazer. When the sun set and the rain subsided we were able to get our very first night ride on Candymonium, which was a treat, before going on to Treatville at the Boardwalk℠ to see what other treats were being dealt out! It was altogether a fabulous - if a little moist - day-to-night experience at Hersheypark in the Dark! Check out our full video of the park day below.
NOTE: Something else that we noticed during our Halloween visit was the fact that additional security posts had been established throughout the entire park, allowing Hersheypark staffers to spot-check parkgoers for compliance with the park’s face covering policies. It seems that Hersheypark is really looking to make a commitment to the safety and health of their guests, even as the crowd (attendance) level ticks upwards for theme parks across the country. Remember that it is possible to both have fun at a theme park and remain safe and healthy during your visit!
