Disneyland Unveils the Reimagined 'Snow White' Attraction
Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA is currently experiencing the longest closure in the history of its existence, thanks to the still-surging COVID-19 pandemic and conflicting views by local and state governments on safety as it pertains to theme parks; but that hasn’t stopped the Imagineering team from forging ahead with some of its boldest work yet! Less than 48 hours after Nintendo and Universal Studios Japan floored us with the immersive new ‘Super Nintendo World’ walking tour, Disney has proudly unveiled their reworked, reimagined and retitled ‘Snow White’s Enchanted Wish’ attraction - formerly ‘Snow White’s Scary Adventures’.
The climactic final scene of the original attraction (1983-2020) featured the antagonistic ‘Evil Queen’ plummeting to her demise after fleeing the seven dwarfs and falling prey to poor depth perception. Although this is a memorable scene for many fans of both the movie and the original attraction, we have to admit - it does seem a bit out of place for a park that prides itself on fun for the whole family. Accordingly, the ride closed for refurbishment long before the pandemic began - on January 7th, 2020 - with mention of some modifications to make the ride a little less intense for younger audiences. We were all expecting the refurbishment to include a rework of the last scene and a replacement for some old and outdated lighting fixtures, but the patents filed gave no clear understanding of any further work that was being done.
Today, we learned via the Disney Parks blog that the refurbishment has blown our expectations away, with a dancing Snow White animatronic, a first-time animatronic embodiment of Price Charming, face-projection technology for the seven dwarfs, pepper’s ghost motion effects, magical light enhancements and so much more - potentially making this dark ride experience more technologically advanced than the still-popular ‘Seven Dwarfs Mine Train’ at Walt Disney World! Safe to say that we will be heading for Anaheim at breakneck speeds as soon as Disneyland receives the green light to reopen to the public.
