Pluto's Pumpkin Pursuit: All 39 Pumpkins with Pictures
The Disneyland Resort has long been known to offer a variety of autumn activities during the ‘Halloween Time’ celebration each year, but arguably one that guests of the property look forward to the most is the “Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit” scavenger hunt! In years prior, the pumpkin pursuit took place exclusively at Downtown Disney, Disneyland’s shopping and dining district adjacent the two theme park properties. However, this year, the Imagineers did something a little bit different - for the very first time ever, there are three (3) distinct scavenger hunts under the “Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit” banner!
At the relatively low cost of $9.99 per hunt, guests may purchase a pumpkin pursuit guide which includes location hints as well as stickers to help you chart your progress through each hunt. The guests’ charge is to locate 39 pumpkins total across the three different hunts in Disneyland Park, Downtown Disney and Disney California Adventure - and the prize for each hunt is a pumpkin-themed miniature sipper of your choice! We took on all three hunts across all three venues, and we’ve included their locations here so that you can lean on our experience if you find yourselves stuck on where some of these hidden pumpkins might be. So without further ado, let’s get into the hunting!
Downtown Disney
Downtown Disney District in California is a lively shopping, dining, and entertainment area located outside Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, offering a mix of Disney-themed and third-party experiences with no admission required. There are thirteen distinct Disney character pumpkins to find in this area, and if you’re quick, you can get them all done before grabbing a bite to eat!
Pumpkin #1 - Mrs. Potts
Mrs. Potts can be found sitting atop the framed entrance to Starbucks which is adjacent World of Disney.
Pumpkin #2 - Pluto
Pluto sits atop the esplanade-facing entrance/exit to World of Disney. You’ll have to take a step or two back from the double doors in order to spot him!
Pumpkin #3 - Moana
Moana can be found hiding in a Y-shaped tree branch near the water feature closest to the Kayla's Cake kiosk. She has, after all, been staring at the edge of the water for as long as she can remember - never really knowing why.
Pumpkin #4 - Lilo and Stitch
Lilo and Stitch are actually two separate pumpkins that have been paired together as a “package deal”. They sit right on top of the ‘Curl Surf’ marquee.
Pumpkin #5 - Pinocchio
Geppetto’s little wooden boy (pumpkin) sits atop the ‘Salt and Straw’ marquee near the ‘Centrico’ roundabout.
Pumpkin #6 - Donald Duck
Donald sits out in the open directly to the left of the entrance to ‘Wetzels Pretzels’ near the ‘Centrico’ roundabout - you need only look up to see him there waiting to be spotted!
Pumpkin #7 - Mickey Mouse
Mickey is sitting atop the ‘Pelé Soccer’ entrance marquee in the ‘Centrico’ roundabout, easily spotted simply by looking up.
Pumpkin #8 - Daisy Duck
Daisy is hiding amongst an elevated planter directly between “The Alley” and the primary entrance/exit to Splitsville Luxury Lanes.
Pumpkin #9 - Princess Tiana
Tiana is hiding amongst the greenery layering the outer wall of ‘Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio’ - you may have to walk a bit closer to the dining patrons in order to spot her!
Pumpkin #10 - Minnie Mouse
Minnie is carefully balanced atop a crossbeam at the Downtown Disney Monorail Station, just above the stairs to enter or exit the boarding area.
Pumpkin #11 - BB-8
BB-8 is high atop the ‘Star Wars Trading Post’ in the frame of the Aztec-looking tower.
Pumpkin #12 - Goofy
Goofy sits on top of the ‘Earl of Sandwich’ temporary location between the entrance to Downtown Disney’s parking lot and the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage.
Pumpkin #13 - Baymax
Baymax is seated atop the accent structures on ‘Din Tai Fung’ asian restaurant. He can be seen clearly when walking from the ‘Earl of Sandwich’ pop-up towards ‘Din Tai Fung’, and he sits on the side of the building that faces the ‘Star Wars Trading Post’.
Disney California Adventure
Disney California Adventure is a theme park in Anaheim, California, located next to Disneyland Park, featuring immersive lands inspired by California’s history, Pixar films, and the Marvel universe. It offers thrilling attractions like Radiator Springs Racers, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout!, and the Incredicoaster, along with live entertainment, dining, and seasonal events. There are thirteen distinct Disney character pumpkins to find in this park - and although you can get a birds’ eye view from attractions like Pixar Pal-Around and Jumpin’ Jellyfish, you can find all thirteen from the ground level.
Pumpkin #1 - Moana
The first pumpkin we found moving forward into the park from the entrance was Moana, and she was not an easy find! The pumpkin is hiding atop the shelves inside ‘Elias & Company’ on Buena Vista Street, and will be most easily located by looking for the ‘wavy’ background she is set against. Clever, clever!
Pumpkin #2 - Mickey Mouse
Mickey is much easier located, and will be found directly atop the ‘Carthay Circle Restaurant’ Marquee directly across the circle from ‘Elias and Company’.
Pumpkin #3 - Daisy Duck
Daisy can be found perched on a box atop the ‘Cahvenga Building’ - and no one will blame you if you have no idea where that is! The building is on the left side of the small arch on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood Land, and the arch itself leads into the Hollywood Backlot Stage area where ‘Monsters Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!’ is.
Pumpkin #4 - Mrs. Potts
Mrs. Potts sits perched atop a curved bump-out inside ‘Off the Page’ - a really cool shop to poke your head into even if you’re not looking for pumpkins! The specific bump-out you should be looking for is above one of the two artist desks with false pages on display appearing to flutter upwards.
Pumpkin #5 - BB-8
BB-8 is listed as being on Sunset Boulevard, but this is only true in the most technical sense possible - our wayward robot is actually on a balcony smack between Sunset Boulevard and the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout!’ attraction. I guess BB-8 felt more at home just a little closer to space!
Pumpkin #6 - Princess Tiana
Tiana can be found under the eaves at the ‘Golden Vine House’, awash in greenery near the Disney Vacation Club information Center.
Pumpkin #7 - Minnie Mouse
Minnie sits perched atop the air control tower at ‘Humphrey's Service & Supplies’, her polka-dot pattern contrasting very nicely with the checkered pattern on said tower.
Pumpkin #8 - Pluto
Pluto is actually quite well hidden inside ‘Rushin’ River Outfitters’, tucked back into a dark corner on a balcony high above the retail shelves. You’ll find said balcony in the back of the store, simply look up and keep walking further back as you enter!
Pumpkin #9 - Baymax
Baymax can be found directly above the queue line for the character’s meet-and-greet, also known as the ‘Maker’s Market’, in the new ‘San Fransokyo Square’ area of the park. If you don’t see the pumpkin right away, simply move around the tree near the queue and you’re sure to find it’s being obstructed by a branch or two - it’s quite easily spotted once you get the right angle!
Pumpkin #10 - Goofy
As you might have suspected, Goofy’s pumpkin manifestation can be found directly above the only Goofy-themed attraction in the park. The pumpkin is perched on a small box inside the railing above the air control tower at ‘Goofy’s Sky School’, which itself is the official queue entrance for the attraction.
Pumpkin #11 - Lilo & Stitch
Once again, Lilo & Stitch come to us as a package deal; and once again, we find them desperately seeking surf and beach vibes wherever they can find it! In DCA, this means that the pumpkin pair can be found on the banks adjacent the World of Color lagoon - specifically, the area directly behind the ‘Jumpin’ Jellyfish’ attraction, which is accessible by a walking path nearby. You will NOT be able to see these pumpkins without taking that path, but the cast members are happy to point you in the right direction if you get turned around!
Pumpkin #12 - Donald Duck
Donald is once again one of the hardest pumpkins to find, and you have to be at just the right angle to spot him atop Toy Story: Midway Mania. Walk past Mr. Potato Head and the meet-and-greet area near the main queue, and look up and to the right towards the loop on the Incredicoaster. You’ll spot his pumpkin erected on a steel rod amongst the Jack Jack clones! One of these things is not like the others!
Pumpkin #13 - Pinocchio
Pinocchio is the last of our pumpkins at DCA, and can be quickly and easily spotted when approaching ‘Knick's Knacks’ from the Incredicoaster side of the pier. Look up above the marquee on the main building, and you’ll be sure to spot the pumpkin-who-would-be-puppet-who-would-be-boy sitting on a small box right on top of the roof.
Disneyland
Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, is the original Disney theme park, opened in 1955, featuring iconic attractions, immersive lands, and beloved characters inspired by Walt Disney's vision of a magical world. Home to classics like Sleeping Beauty Castle, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Space Mountain, it offers a blend of nostalgia, innovation, and storytelling that continues to enchant visitors of all ages. Thus, there’s no better way we could possibly close out this hunt than to visit the original home of Disney magic to find the remaining 13 pumpkin pals!
Pumpkin #1 - Daisy Duck
You’ll likely spot Daisy Duck before you’ve even picked up your pumpkin pursuit map - she sits in the window of an Emporium storefront, directly facing the main gate of the park and to the right of the fire station when walking towards Main Street from the turnstiles.
Pumpkin #3 - Minnie Mouse
Minnie is perched high above Main Street U.S.A. looking down upon the people - scan the rooftops on your left side as you make your way down the street towards the castle, and you can’t possibly miss her!
Pumpkin #4 - BB-8
BB-8 will be found inside the Star Trader in Tomorrowland. Simply walk in, turn to your left, and look up to spot this robot hiding in the corner!
Pumpkin #5 - Baymax
Like fellow robot BB-8, Baymax will be found in the futuristic world of Tomorrowland; but unlike BB-8, he prefers to stay a bit lower to the ground. You’ll be able to spot Baymax quite easily if you make your way over to Tomorrowland Skyline Terrace, and take a gander at the planters on the main stage.
Pumpkin #6 - Lilo & Stitch
After perfectly matching these companion pumpkins to beachy, surfy themes on the past two hunts, we’re not entirely sure what led Lilo and Stitch to take a perch high above Fantasyland - nevertheless, you’ll find the two pumpkins a couple levels apart from one another on the towers at the Small World Esplanade. Specifically, take a gander at the towers nearest the Storybook Land Canal Boats!
Pumpkin #7 - Goofy
Goofy never bothered to run for mayor of Mickey’s Toontown, but his brand is all over that place! Specifically, check the Toontown entrance marquee to see a Goofy-themed pumpkin sitting just below the railway fence line.
Pumpkin #8 - Pinocchio
Can you guess where Pinocchio’s pumpkin might be? Hint: the character has his own ride in Disneyland! Check above the queue entrance to Pinochio’s Daring Journey to find this aptly-placed gourd waiting for you!
Pumpkin #9 - Mrs. Potts
Mrs. Potts can be found at the Red Rose Taverne, a quick service restaurant whose very name references the tale as old as time from which Mrs. Potts is derived. When standing near the Casey Junior Circus Train and Dumbo, take a gander at the upper windows and the associated planters to find a pumpkin in plain sight.
Pumpkin #10 - Pluto
Pluto is riding around in style, set back comfortably inside the Frontierland Stagecoach! This photo op can be found near the Frontierland entrance to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (Fantasyland side of the bridge).
Pumpkin #11 - Donald Duck
Donald can be found hanging from a rope net directly above Ship to Shore Marketplace, which is a very small snack kiosk on the riverbank near the boarding dock for the Mark Twain Riverboat and directly across from the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad queue. You can walk right by this area if you’re not careful, so be on the lookout once you get past the Big Thunder observation area!
Pumpkin #12 - Moana
This girl just can’t keep away from waves and water! Find her near the babbling brook at the base of the Adventureland Treehouse. She can be tough to spot if you don’t know to look for her, but if you know to look for her, you can’t possibly miss!
Pumpkin #13 - Princess Tiana
Where else would Princess Tiana be if not at Tiana’s Palace in New Orleans Square? I mean, she owns the place, after all! Look high on the second-floor hanging planters near the windows, and you’ll spot this final pumpkin wishing on the evening star.
