Nicolosi's Pizzeria is Serving Up the Scares!
EASTON, PA – There’s quite a few great pizzerias out there, and the odds are pretty good that you’ll stumble across one or two of them in your lifetime…but have you ever stumbled across a horror-centric pizzeria where Halloween is celebrated every day? Enter Nicolosi’s Pizzeria & Restaurant, an Italian venue heavily themed around the iconic horror movies that defined the industry. Jayson Anastasi, owner and chief pizzaiolo, has been an avid fan of horror movies since he first saw 1953’s “House of Wax” starring Vincent Price.
Since Jayson came into ownership of Nicolosi’s, he’s been slowly expanding his collection of Halloween, Haunt and Horror merchandise and using it to decorate the increasingly spooky dining room. After seeing Nicolosi’s come up over and over again in our Instagram feed, we decided to drive roughly three hours North to see what made this little shop of horrors so special. Though the drive was long and our bellies roared the whole way, the destination was well worth the journey. As fans of both great pizza and all things scary and spooky, Nicolosi’s checked all of the boxes. Jayson’s current collection features more than forty-five posters, dozens of masks and posed skeletons, custom art, collectibles and memorabilia signed by iconic celebrities in horror and so, so much more.
As for the food, the Garlic Knot Skulls were an instant favorite - some of the best skull-shaped nourishment we’ve ever had, easily displacing the HHN pizza skull - and the Hot Buffalo Chicken Pizza, while not innately spooky, was perfectly spun, cooked and baked and beautifully decorated with a ranch dressing spiral reminiscent of such classics as “Vertigo” and “Suspiria”. If you’re looking for a main course that’s a little more unique and on-brand, you can also grab a slice of the Upside Down, which puts a “Stranger Things” spin on the classic mozzarella pie with tomato sauce by putting the sauce on the top and the mozzarella on the bottom. Chow down while listening to ‘Master of Puppets’ and you’ve got yourself a meal that would make Eddie Munson proud! The menu also features a slew of Italian favorites, as well as traditional handhelds such as burgers and wraps.
Great pizza will always draw crowds, but what makes Nicolosi’s so unique among pizzerias is its atmosphere. Not only is Jayson’s dining room spectacularly spooky all year round, but the collection of horror memorabilia is always growing, changing and expanding….creating an endless easter egg hunt for horror enthusiasts and adding the incentive of surprise for repeat customers from all walks of life. Nicolosi’s is located in Park Plaza at 1700 Sullivan Trail, Easton, PA 18040 and keeps regular hours every day except Sunday. While we can’t replicate the taste of those garlic skulls for you, we can at least give you a peek into some of the spooky decor in our experience vlog below!
