Our Last Full Day at Disney's Aulani Resort!
It’s our last full day at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, and we're not about to let a single moment of the day slip through our fingers. First, we mapped out a plan of attack to meet as many characters as possible using Aulani’s “Toon Finder” service. Simply dial the number from your room phone and a friendly voice will tell you when and where to meet your favorite Disney friends (weather permitting). We found over the course of our stay that character interactions at Aulani were not to be missed! The lines are shorter, characters are often in fun outfits (especially for the holidays) and your time with the character is not rushed. Be sure to check out the vlog for highlights of our very successful character hunt! Another activity we had to experience today was the Menehune Adventure Trail. This is an interactive scavenger hunt-like activity completed on a tablet that guides you around the pools and gardens in search of the mischievous menehune. Did we mention that it is exclusive to resort guests and free of charge? You can pick up a tablet a the Pau Hana Community room (first come, first served) which gives you one hour to complete as many challenges as you can. It is expected that you return the tablet when you hour is up, but you can always come back and keep playing as long as the tablets are available.
We loved exploring the grounds and learning more about Hawaiian culture with Aunty and friends. We certainly worked up an appetite on our adventures, so we stopped in at the Off the Hook for one last munch on some of our favorite foods and beverages on property (hint, don’t skip the spicy fries). When we returned the tablet to Pau Hana and were surprised to receive a little prize as well as a photo scavenger hunt challenge, which we could complete to earn the final piece of our keychain reward. This activity led us around the resort with riddles and clues and we documented our findings with photos, which we showed the cast member to earn the final piece of our keychain craft. Next on our to do list was to see the illustrious Aulani Players’ retelling of Moana, featuring a “special guest” performer.
Following the stunning performance, we enjoyed a bit of “Holiday Cheer” with cookies and cocoa on the lawn. To our delight, there was still plenty of time left in our day for a last dip in the Waikolohe Stream, our favorite aquatic offering of the resort. As golden hour approached, it was time to clean up for the evening because we had learned that a photo-pass photographer was planted at the beach to take sunset family photos! After our photo shoot, we soaked up our last Aulani sunset at the 'Ōlelo Room, the walk-up only lounge adjacent to the Makahiki Restaurant. This lounge boasts hand-rolled sushi and nigiri that Katie had her eye on all week! We enjoyed our last Hawai’ian delicacies including the delightful pineapple cobbler as we were serenaded by the ukulele. To top off our fantastic day, we headed back towards the beach for Mo'olelo Fire Pit Storytelling. We could not have asked for a better day to say goodbye to this beautiful resort and could not be more grateful for every cast member that made our time at Aulani so special.
